ambient. Each stage contributes temperature rise under the relevant heat flow. Infineon&#8217;s module mounting guidance emphasizes that thermal interface material, application and geometry affect conduction between module and sink. No catalogue heatsink number can compensate for a poorly controlled contact interface.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Obtain the exact module&#8217;s thermal-resistance or transient-impedance data and understand the measurement reference points. \u201cJunction-to-case\u201d is not automatically comparable across different internal configurations or test conventions. The sink supplier&#8217;s thermal-resistance figure also has conditions: airflow, orientation, base area and a particular heat-source arrangement may be assumed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Check where the equipment&#8217;s ambient reference is measured. Air near an SCR bank, inside a crowded cabinet, may be hotter than room air. A fan&#8217;s free-air rating is not the airflow through the sink fins once filters, guards and nearby components are installed. Record which interface is allowed for the exact module, the required surface flatness and cleanliness, and the manufacturer&#8217;s placement and fastening sequence. A change of compound or mounting pressure can change contact resistance even if the electrical module and sink are unchanged.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ask for specified mounting torque, fastener pattern, electrical clearances and any re-tightening or burn-in instruction. These details should come from the current module installation manual, not from a generic torque chart.
